    Blair Witch Project

I never saw that film but certainly know about it. Stepping out of the normal everyday thinking and seeing can certainly be a part of the photography learning process. I saw this scene from the highway and just knew I had to try and photograph it. I shot the better of a 36 exposure roll trying...

Notes From The Top Left Corner

The custom shipping crate leaves Dallas today headed for Hamburg. Once it arrives and is unpacked there will still be numerous images that will need framing. I'll be anxiously awaiting the completion of that process. Only after that step is completed and all is well will I be able to relax. The...

Notes From The Top Left Corner

Great to hear that the exhibit is well attended. It's always a special feeling to see your own work on display and see others responding to it. Do you have any other upcoming projects? I've not been posting recently because of a big project I've been working on. I just finished restoring and...

    🐛

I thought of this photo of mine when I saw your post. I don't do much macro type work but I couldn't pass up this opportunity. I was out to photograph the Dallas skyline during the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. As I stood waiting I noticed this caterpillar right in front of me. I placed...

Notes From The Top Left Corner

Hey Chris, How is the phone box project exhibition in Lancaster going? Has there been a good turnout of viewers. Is all the work on view for sale?

Congrats Chris. It's always nice to receive a little recognition for all the work over the years. So, will you also have some of your photographs on exhibit?

    F-35s

Back in the mid 1970's I worked at a pro lab in Dallas that handled all the photo work for General Dynamics. We produced 1000's of images of the F-16 finished out in the colors of various countries. One project I handled personally was to create a montage of an F-16 taking off and doing a...

    Center of town

As soon as I saw this it brought back a memory from 1979. In August of 1979 I took an 8,000 mile motorcycle tour from my home in Dallas,Texas and one of the many towns I passed through was Banff, Alberta, Canada. This was shot about 7 p.m. with my trusty Canon FTb on Kodachrome 64. I had left...

The purple of failing street lights.

I saw a photographer posting portrait sessions shot under these failing street lights. I see them around the DFW region also.

Theme: By Train, Plane, Boat or Car - images taken from moving vehicles

Thanks Gianluca. One of those quirky shots I've mentioned I like. I always liked those 3 trees. Purely happenstance though because there was no real time to compose a shot.

I slowed down and let the 'cow' catch up to me then did a series of about 8 more shots as we drove side by side down the highway. We reached a split and I took the service road. This was the last shot at 50-60mph out my drivers side window.

A little imagination or just add water

While driving to see family in Lubbock, Texas on July 4, 2014 I passed a rest area about 8 miles outside the town of Post, Texas. The scene I saw there was too much for me to pass up. Two teenage boys, in a large boat resting on a trailer with a tire missing, imagining as if they were anchored...

I have to post a few from my archive. I have a series titled "Drivetime" with hundreds of shots taken from my drivers seat in my Dodge Grand Caravan (now approaching 420,000 miles). These are all shot in Dallas, Texas using either my Contax G2 or Rollei Prego 90.

    First encounter: 'Slurp!'

This bit of information certainly explains a lot about you. The experience really altered your perspective of everyday life.:) I don't know that any of us are qualified enough to analyze your work.

    Movie photography

Thanks Gary for that bit of info. I did not know that about him. So many men kept their service time personal. This makes me think of another wonderful movie "The Best years of our life". Powerful.
