Difficult to say but it looks good in this JPEG. Maybe a bit of input sharpening?

if i was editing it I would do that anyway ... one of the steps I take to get that painterly thing done lol... well not shrapening but rather Definition in Aperture

Davie it is difficult to tell from a jpeg. 1DS supposedly has one of the weakest AA filters of any canon dslr (AFAIam aware only 1D had a weaker) so it should show a certain clarity and pixel level sharpness. Being a ten year old sensor it doesn't looks as clinical as modern sensors, looks more analogue.

Sigma 15-30 would impart its own signature.

I had to look up what an AA filter was ( the workings of stuff has never interested me, weird being an engineer) and I think that lack of clinical-ness could be a good thing?

I had an old Sigma 18mm m42 with selectable orange, red, green, blue filter built in. A meaty lens. Paired with 1DS i believe would give quite an analogue look.

i'm gonna try and get some more test shots tomorrow morning (i'm on night shift so monday mornings are free )

You are truly a trusting sort Davie........you have left ya gates open or were you on ya way out????

Sorry totally off topic....

I'm not big on Techo, seem to have fallen off the track with that but I do like going wide and this is good wide. but please do shut the gate on the way out/in :D

I always leave my gate open :)

Love the wiiiiiiideness! Certainly elongates the front end of the motor towards the edge of the frame. Very interesting results.

Ahh Davie...............the wind will blow through you know...............the wind will blow through...............did I ever tell you about whne my grandad left his back gate open? ...............ahh it was a sad day....indeed a sad day...............:D

i'm getting used to not being lazy by not being able to use live view so i have a light meter i'm playing with to see how accurate it is. What i'm finding is whatever the light meter says i go a stop down for my own personal preferences. I like the weight and feel but i need to get out into the highlands with it....especially with there being snow on them thar hills

Not unusual for a handheld to be a stop different from camera metering - I've seen the same effect with my Sekonic meters

There's really no 'standard' just preference based on manufacturer - amazing really!
