4th Test Shot from Toyo

For this shot I angled the lens board to align with the front of the house. This was shot at f/22 for 1/30th second. Fomapan 100. I also used a Carson 4.5x loupe that essentially covered the entire ground glass. The Fresnel/Ground Glass sandwich has been corrected from previous tests. Focus was on the front face of the house.

Looking good, Gary. At f/22 and that distance I suspect the impact of the swing applied was minimal, but it wouldn’t have hurt. Did the loupe help?

Another thing I did different was to focus with the lens wide open - I then stopped down prior to exposing the frame.

I think having the loupe allowed me to view the minute focus changes from the windows to the garage door. I wonder if my attempt to split the difference resulted in not getting a sharp image? Or maybe I'm being unreasonable? The image above was sharpened with Topaz.

To me it looks fine, but surely not sharp. But I know nothing about the camera.

I don't really know the camera either Gianluca.
Apparently when cleaning the ground glass I reassembled the Fresnel/GG sandwich wrong. This means earlier shots would have been affected. This time I also angled the lens board to the front face of the house (Pete didn't think that would matter).
Even having sharpened the image, the result isn't as sharp as a shot taken with my 42mp Sony a7R3 on 9 JUL as part of my last sequence of test shots. So, I'm wondering if the camera/lens/film is doing all that it can or if I still need to improve my technique (or resign myself to what the camera is doing is the bast that it can do).

This is pretty close Gary. Also. if you want overall sharpness in a shot like this you need a still smaller stop. Try it on a still life, glassware or the like and closer focus. Easier to focus on something large close up and it will tell you more probably. I'm sure you do but make sure everything is locked up tight as possible. The digital shot shows both the improvement in lenses and the depth of field point I think.

Was the negative quite dense Gary. The exposure seems very generous for the film and conditions. The very darkest area like the top left corner should be clear film, Zone 0. If it has tone then you have overexposed.
