A bargain to have

Dan Cattermole

Dan Down - The Steampunk Womble
I went to the big supermarket chain Tesco today to pick up a few items, easily done.
I pottered to the section were they sold memory cards, adaptors for phone... oh, and film! All in the aid to see if they did have any XP2. Unfortunately not :(
The did have fujifilm200, these priced in at a whopping £6.50 for 24 exposures and £8.00 for 32! 'DAMMMMM, that's expsensive' I did say out semi loud. (didn't get anywhere with that [banghead])
Next to it was plenty of unmarked Kodak Gold 200 36exp. How strange, no price tag.
So I picked up one roll and took it to the cashier hoping to express my dissapointment in how expensive film is in THE biggest supermarket chain in Britain. You would of thought that they could knock the prices down a notch really though wouldn't you? I mean, I can go to Boots and pick any roll up cheaper than what Tesco are doing, but hey, onward.
BEEP went the scanner "Yes sir, that's £0.74 for those"
DAFUQ!!!!! i thought, "eerrr, yeah thank you for that" Kept my mouth shut and threw 8 rolls in the basket with a total of £5.92!!!! and all in date until sept2014!

Now, that's pretty good right? maybe not and I'm sure ebay can beat that in many occasions, and I know it's NOT unfortunately XP2 which would of been great, but a bargain I'm sure it is.

I rememeber using Kodak gold moons ago and cannot rememeber what the outcome is like [doh]

Thanks for looking :)

I have been used some Agfa Vista plus from poundland, cheap film but due to the amount of post processing you can now do, its easier than it used to be to get the look that you want even when the film isn't ideal.

OK,...so it's not Ektar or Portra (or even XP2),...but there's nothing wrong with Kodak Gold 200, Dan. It will yield decent images.

It's a steal. Can't beat that price Dan, it'll cost more in petrol to get them home!

I have trouble tracking down XP2 locally, so tend to buy from Amazon these days.

Same with my 120 film - I do have one store that keeps a little Ilford and Kodak in stock, but there's no guarantee what they'll have in at any time - so online is better and usually cheaper
