A bit of Advertising

In the run up to an upcoming makeover we have got a few google adds in place
They look a bit crap at the moment
they will look a bit better when we have made all the changes to the design/layout of the place...

To be honest, google adds are not ideal, they really are just a stand in until we can get some advertisers on board ...
I hope no one has any issue with a few small adds...
Unfortunately this place has to earn its keep as it is starting to cost me quite a bit to keep up and running ... ...
any adds in the forum its self are invisible once logged in ...

I hadn't noticed them so they can't be too conspicuous! No problem with me.. Any other ideas on fund raising? What sort of figures are we talking about?

Ads can be annoying, especially those with motion. But a nicely done ad can, and sometimes does, lead me to a new product or service or to something I hadn't thought of before. When there gets to be too many ads then the visitor goes elsewhere I think. But ads can help defray the cost of running the board and offset the need to have subscriptions.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting people to cheer ...
As long as people understand that it is somewhat necessary ...
Eventually I want to just sell advertising space to smaller independent companies, but it's not really worth it for them just yet ...

It will be a sesion thing ... You shrink it with a click it stays shrink until you leave re site and come back ... That's the plan anyway!

It'll be JavaScript, and will be fully tested for iPhones iPads etc etc
