Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
Here are a few random London street photos I took recently, I hope these will amuse you as much as they do for me :).

Thanks for looking.

Jim

Love the first one , I buy a lot of stuff from ROKIT :)

#3 is a real cracker Jim - nice and close in, and they are fully engaged with the task and haven't noticed you at all

Loving the B&W toned shot too :)

Agree with the other comments. Prefer the last ones. Very nice contrasty images that seem to hint at a story that I can't quite grasp.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, I find street photography is not easy and am still finding my way around it. :)

Nice images, Jim! 1 & 3 are my favs! Love the fun of the Rokit sign in 1 & Kudos for the up close & personal in 3. Some nice PP too with lovely blacks.

Jim there's some very interesting Street stuff going off in the London festival of photography, lots is for free too, I think i'll try & pop down a couple of times in June.

Thanks Alfie :)

I think there is Street Photography festival going on in London in June. Also I am going to check out this place on Friday Street Feast London, sounds like it's a target rich environment :D

The street feast sounds wonderful mate & yes there should be some good opportunities for some very nice images there. Is the festival you mention different to this Home - London Festival of Photography Jim?

That's the one!

There are many photography related events going on throughout the month, I am looking forward to it.

It looks great, Jim. The workshops look a little expensive for me, but look very good indeed. I'll try to pop down for some of the exhibitions & quite like the look of this London Festival of Photography. It's real bad timing for me as I've spent to many days off striking over pensions this last month & it's made things a little tight.

Doh about the strike, hope it gets better soon.

I am going to a workshop run by Matt Stuart in June, hope it will be good :).

That's a bit spooky, Jim. I was looking at Matt Stuarts web site yesterday! He makes some very clever & amusing images. I think it should be great. Let us know how it goes, Jim, I could quite fancy doing a workshop or two in the future.

I did actually attend David Gibson's workshop (two half-days) last month. I did not receive much instructions or demonstration regarding operational side of street photography, e.g. how to set up your camera for maximum DOF or sneak close to your subject silently like a ninja, but he did point out some useful tips such as look out for half a picture and hang around for the other half to complete, or follow/stalk interesting subjects...etc.

The workshop wasn't as intensive or structured as I hoped, but it did contain useful and new information to me nevertheless.

I suspect it's hard to find one at the right level or one offering all the right answers for each individual, Jim. I think if some of it engages you & gets you thinking more or differently then it's done it's job.

I've got half a picture in mind & must of spent 3 or 4 hours over the last couple of weeks waiting for the right person to pass by! After 20 mins or so I move on, because it must look a little odd me standing in the middle of a very busy street clutching my camera. Surely it must happen soon though LOL
