A Proper Bookshop

I used to tell the trainees as work that nothing ever good came from a book while they were searching the internet for information that we had in books in the office. Not all of them picked up on the sarcasm, sometimes I had to drop the book on their desk. Its worrying that soon, it seems, books will go the same way as records and been seen as something the Pipe and Slippers Brigade cling to whilst hanging onto the past.

Oh year, where was I............... No 3 is very good I think.

Bookshop 3: The still-life contrasting with live-life beyond. Very nice.
Bookshop 10: Lovely compo.
Bookshop 8: An almost Dickensian jumble. Also very nice.

Beltin' - reminds me of some pix I took in Wales (Llangollen) with my FM2n a few years back.

Bookshop 10: Just surreal :)

We could have spent hours in there. Susan found something she'd spent ten years looking for, only it was £200. She was in Glasgow for a job interview, so if she gets the job, she'll get the book. We won't hear for weeks.

Glasgow seems a wonderful place for photography.

Ahem , scuse me my club only uses original US issue vinyl and i'm not pipe and slippers yet .... I like glasgow but not necessarily the people, very biased though

So these 2 or 3, can you actually name then Davie?! ;)

These are wonderful Rob. No 10 is indeed superb but I also like the one with Susan in. I love bookshops and rarely emerge empty handed. And my house is literally drowning in books (as is the apartment in Potsdam - and the studio come to think of it) and I've had a passion from them since a child.

And edited while listening to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust. On vinyl bought when it was released. Me, a hoarder?!! :)

No TV Paul. What station was it on? I'm a big fan of Bailey.

The Americans is on show because I was rummaging through the books a few weeks back and then it wouldn't fit back in again! I guess in a few months another will be in the same situation. Most of the photography books are upstairs though.

I've been up there a couple of times Rob and I think it's a fantastic place :)

And a copy of The Americans on show. I also see a few books on David Bailey. Did you see the recent TV dramatised life story a few months back? Not sure how much of it was completely true.

Just watched a clip and the actor playing Bailey manages to get at least 14 shots out of a roll of 120 film shooting 6x6! Impressive!! Surely they could have got that right. Check out the Bailey-like photographer in Blow-Up. Spot-on. Helped I guess by David Hemmings being a keen photographer and having real ones on set. Still, I've ordered it on DVD as it looks interesting.

Cheers, guys. Just back from Dundee. Glad you like these Glasgow shots. One day in Glasgow, one day in Dundee - that's my holidays over for this year!
