airplanes and fireflies

35ish minutes of exposures showing the crowded airspace over an unpopulated section of delaware. was never sure if it was the planes dive bombing me or the mosquitoes. either way, they did the same amount of damage. the neon yellow lights are fireflies, not some new planet. the wildlife observation tower was lit with a flashlight (tourch for those of you across the pond) when i wasn't swatting at the kamikazes.

30 second exposure x 71
f/3.6
iso 400

Love these star trail shots Beth and when combined with subtle light painting finishes it all off nicely. Good job!!

thanks guys. i should have done a few more frames of light painting, but ran for the car after just two frames.. the front corner at the top was a little too hot in both frames.. had to tone it down some in ps. but extra work in photoshop is preferable to death by a million bug bites.

Brilliant!

So was it really multiple exposures which you've stacked somehow?

thanks. i usually use startrails.de software, but i just tried star circle academy trial actions (figuring out how to use them took a little while) and it seems to leave less jaggies. i may have to purchase these actions. have to see what the full version does that the freebie action doesn't.

each exposure:
30s
f/2.6
iso 400

used a locking cable release and continuous shot mode. image display was turned off. almost skipped the tripod, figured the camera could be suspended in the air by mosquitos.
