Shot all these in 85mm ... was very liberating only using the one lens all day!

Im quite happy to see that my photos have changed from last years wedding shots ... a lot fresher looking this year i think :)

I got roped into shooting my Sister-in-law's wedding last year because I was the only one that had a "proper looking camera". She was happy with the photographs, but looking at these I can tell how bad mine were :o.

Great shots, I bet they loved them...

Cheers Laurence ... I often get the impression that wedding photography is looked down upon ...
I really enjoy it ... Couldn't do it every day mind ... I'd loose my marbles with stress I think!

Stunning shots Hamish - you've captured some great moments, and the style is right up my street

I thought you were just a guest at this one?

Either way, the looks from the bride are priceless - bet she'll love these when she sees them :)

awesome shots Hamish......i to have been asked to do a cousins, just because she was on a major cheap budget and she know i like photography. I refused on the grounds my balls aint big enough.......lol I would have been gutted and she probably would have been also if my photos were crap.........!!

I was a guest ... I can't help my self! I followed te other pro around like a bad smell for a while ... I even made a suggestion for the bride to move her face into the dappled sun ... In hindsight that was probably very rude! I just couldn't help my self ... Ah well ... :)

I think I have got better since last years shots ... I'm really pleased with them!
Although it was easier not being the paid photog .. Just hope I can do the same when it comes to a paid one

Do you do many paid ones hamish?

Not really ... Did maybe 10 last year ...
I quit my job to be a wedding photographer but got distracted by the new web/graphic/photo business (which is a lot more business oriented) after about a year and since then haven't promoted it much ... In fact this year I'm not even on the front page of google any more I've put so little effort into advertising it!
Got 5 or 6 this year and 2 next booked ... One of which it Tom Brookes' wedding!

Nice Hamish I like these, particularly like No6 although a little to much DoF i feel but a great capture and composed. I feel I'm almost ready to take on a wedding!

Lovely shots, there, Hamish. Well done! I frequently get roped into taking shots at events where I'm supposed to be a guest because, as Glen stated, I'm the one with the "proper-looking camera". It's a bit like being the friend with the pick-up truck. Everyone else is constantly asking you to help them move.

I like that one of the bride and bridesmaids lovely natural feel to it, also the composition with that lovely space to their left showing the location, really captures the moment of a late spring/early summer wedding

Was talking to Greg about us just shooting 85mm (me) and 50mm (him - 75mm equiv on Fuji s5) apart from group and close quarter indoors stuff ... And I think we might do it! The quality and consistancy is much better!
I have a tendency to shoot to wide with the zoom lens in a bid to make sure I get everything in but it often ruins shots doing it ... This seems to be the solution!
And it's a lot more satisfying ... I'm not just being an anti zoom snob ;)

wow kool...........i hope you get permission............
