And then there was colour...

Today in the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. I dug out my Fuji XS-1, which is a fine bridge camera. I think if I buy another digital camera, it might well be a good-quality bridge camera.

Beautiful images Rob. I know my Merril's cannot cope with yellow as this fuji has. Love the scape of blue cornflowers in the second image.

The first image is not showing, maybe this end though.

I must have removed it from Flickr - I vaguely remember removing one which was 99% identical to another. That must be it. No matter, there are enough here to "get the picture".

Yellow - one of the hardest colours to get right. Pete always manages it, but he is in league with the Devil, as we all know. The Fuji XS-1 has the Velvia option, which I chose here. I've been doing so much black and white film work of late, it was fun to just break out with colour - and digital - and the images didn't cost me any money :) However, they do look like false-colour digital images to me, so I'll grow weary of them soon enough.

Rhona is off to Prague for four days from Friday, and is borrowing my Konica Hexar. She wants to "do" Prague with film. Good for her, as long as she brings the Hex home in one piece!

Edit: I've now restored the first one.

Pete in league with the devil eh? Thanks for the heads up, I'll watch my back ;)
Yes digital is a big compromise in my books as well. I will say though flatness can be more about sensor size though, you need to hold onto a lot of the subtle tonal graduation for that perception of depth.

Hope Rhona has a good trip, I could imagine a couple of colour rolls of films might work well in Prague along side B+W

Love that first image, Rob. And if you want help with the yellows I can send you a contract! ;)

I have both a film and digital Leica with me this weekend (Cinestill) as I want to replicate some images I did using digital a few years back. Might take me a while to process them though.

Having just spent 3 weeks photographing flowers and designing portfolio documents for our local "In Bloom" entry for this year all I can say is...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGHH!!! FLOWEEEEEEEERSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! I HAAAAAAAATE FLOWEEEEEEERS!!!!!"

Ahem.... cracking pix though - esp like No1 :)

3 full days with the judges starting Monday - *Sob....

A riot of colour, what's not to like...especially No.2, gotta love blue and yellow together...and I'm not sure about them looking false in any way, but then I'm way too young to remember Velvia film...:D

...and hasn't Rob already sold his soul to "auld Nick" at the crossroads, playing "git-fiddle" as well as he does...???
