Any Gardeners Amongst Us?

Just thought I would throw this out......

We are looking for garden plants, preferably flowering or colourful, that grow well in the shade and in pots (big and small).

Any ideas, I know very little about gardening?

Basically Paul the darker the green of the leaf the more tolerant of the shade, as they contain far more chlorophyll, therefore easier for photosynthesis from less light . I always new more about Veggies as I preferred the taste. .

Ferns are good for shade and damp.

I read that Hostas die each winter. Do they die away and then come back or just die completely?
Most do Paul...they are not annuals so they come back. The other thing nice about Hostas...the rhizomes (bulbs) can be (actually should be) split to fill in bigger and bigger spots.
