Ashdown Forest

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
I guess for people with no knowledge of the area, calling this a forest is a bit strange. It was used as a place for hunting as far back as the Norman Conquest and hundreds of years later, it was regularly used by Henry VIII. More recently is has become famous as the home of Winnie the Pooh. I have yet to visit Poohsticks Bridge, although it isn't far from where we live :)

like that Lesley very calming :) Could just imagine spending a few moments sitting in that bench with a tinnie relaxing :D:D

Street photography for rural people - I like that. The woman kept to one side thinking she was going to ruin my shot. The camera was on a tripod and I had the cable release in my hand. I waved her through saying to carry on and I wasn't in a rush...

...click! It just needed a bit more interest than the bench :D

I love that!!

What used to be called contre-jour when I started photography (1977 or so)

That's just oozing history Lesley, wonderful image

Terrific shot and great colour. I believe there was a forest fire here not so long ago. T.here was some mention of it in the news

Thank you gentlemen. For Pete (and Ian), we are about a 20 minute drive from here. A few years ago we took a couple of our ferrets to a family who lived right in the forest. They were thinking about adopting and we were happy to give them a hands on experience. I must say that I loved the place, but the regular fires would put me off now :(

Copthorne - my goodness! We pass that on the way to our ferret vet. I must add that we don't rehome any of our animals, but our vet suggested the potential owners speak to us. I won't identify our village on a public forum because it is so tiny. Suffice to say we are literally the first property over the border in East Sussex :)

I'm late to the party as usual. I think I've told you before
but, of all the great stuff you have, I think this is my favorite.
( unless it's the laundry cat ) :)
