I like my coffee with quite a lot of sugar in it. Unfortunately it seems cameras prefer it with less sugar ... And less coffee and water for that matter! Still, no worries, baby wipes to the rescue and all is well!
Seconds after having a cup made for me yesterday I swiped it with my elbow, knocking it all over my mac book pro and Sony RX100. Priorities based on cost of device alone meant the mac got an on the spot fairly good cleaning. Mark Grant (who was visiting) gave the RX100 a wipe but then came to help me clean up the rest of the mess.
At the end of the day, I checked the Sony and it worked, put it in my pocket and forgot about it... No harm done!
That is at least what I thought until I went to use the Sony today, rotated the dial on the back and found that it made what menu it was controling flicker literally uncontrollably. It was also gummed up with dried sugary coffee residue.
Like with most cleaning situations, what with having a baby, I turned to baby wipes.
They are quite moist, so be careful if you are going to try this your self ...
They cleaned the coffee residue up nicely and returned the cameras function to normal... All of the dust that had accumulated in the nooks and crannies came out too! They didn't leave any linty bits on the camera either...
All in all, unless anyone can tell me a good reason not to, I'm going to use these things to clean my gear from now on!
