Ben

[Brian Moore]

This is Ben. He is a character who hangs out at the LA Velodrome. I saw him there on two occasions,...set up at this little table and patiently applying glitter to the Olympic rings on his wheel. From what I can gather he is quite well-known.

I took this shot with my Canon F1 and Kodak Tri-X film which I pushed to 1600.

lol. Thanks, Rob. No I haven't been on a bike on the track. And I actually haven't spent that much time there. I've been 3 times; once just popped in for half an hour to get a feel for the lighting,...and then on two occasions when I took pictures at races.

I'm actually not planning on going back; its fun and I love the cycling, but I found the actual photography a bit repetitive.

Well Chris, apparently when he shows up there he fetches that table from a storage area and sets up his stuff and gets to work. If you look at the image you'll see on the far side of the table a small placard standing. It has a picture of Ben in his riding gear and also some famous cyclist and it says something like "this is Ben's place" or something like that. I guess the Velo folks made that for him and look out for him.
