Birds of Prey

I had the privilege of visiting a raptor rehabilitation center in Sitka, Alaska back in 2000. Seeing these majestic birds up close was a treat for me. I'm not a birder but it always saddens me to see a bird like this lying on the road after being struck down. It seems such an inappropriate way for them to die. I do appreciate those places that help injured birds regain their ability to fly and hunt again but I also know there are some that can never be released into the wild again due to their injuries. Is this the type of centre that had these birds?

Owls are some of my favorite. Such distinguished faces!
