Shooting in full sun this week, I had a couple of frames back which exhibited poorer contrast, and what looked to be a light leak effect on the RHS

This was the worst frame - a few others were only slightly effected, and most were perfectly ok.

The sun was beating down, and shining into the waist-level viewfinder from the top - I used mirror lock-up before shooting each frame, and did not shade the WLV.

Any thoughts on probable cause?

Should I have shielded/closed the WLV against the direct sunlight perhaps?

Mmmmmmm, doing some research leads me to the possibility that the dark slide light seals are failing :(

Lots of examples online, although strangely they are on the left mostly

Mine always appears to be coming from the RHS - odd

I've ordered a repair kit from EBAY any way - for $15 I figure it's a good investment

It does look like the DS. Is the back mounting snugly?

Yep - the back fits nice and tightly Pete, no play there that I can see

I have a 2nd used back on the way from EBAY, just hasn't arrived here yet, so I'll have a spare eventually

The light seal guy is based in CA, so hopefully I'll have the new seals early next week

I'll put some tape on the slot when I use it this weekend, and see if that fixes the problem!

Thanks Hamish - hadn't seen that

I had found this silent B&W film on it on YouTube though!

Looks straight forward enough - if a little fiddly

I'll be sure to take pictures :)
