Bluebonnet + Garden Spider Egg Sac

Friday PM. I was pleased to see the egg sac. We had watched that spider quite a bit last Sept. I'm sure it's hers based on where it's at.

Bluebonnet eh. Interesting. It seems to be a variety of lupin. That egg case is a mighty fine structure. Hopefully you can catch the you when they emerge (before they catch you!).

The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. People go nuts and wade out into fields of them with their children for photos. When I was working at Cleburne State Park we had to post a "guard" by the front gate to deter non paying photo takers. We had a big field of them right by the entrance gate. People would park on the highway then jump the wood rail fence. The park Superintendent used to sit down there and make them pay to use the bluebonnet field. It was really funny. They are about the only thing that blooms this time of year.

I love garden spiders. I think I got a better shot of that egg sac this AM when the sun was on the other side.

On the downside Stanley and Ruby got sprayed by a skunk. I'm about to go bathe them now.
