This could do with being a bit sharper

but here we go anyway, an old box we have in our lounge

Quite lovely. I would like to join in but my internet connection has been as flakey as hell for over 3 weeks now. Still waiting for BT to come and put new wiring down outside. Shame I had a series of window shots that I had just finished as the previou theme started.

Looks a bit military Hamish, with the stenciled lettering - very nice

I would suggest a 16:9 crop, but only to annoy Pete now that you've given him his fave square format image! LOL ;)

I thought it might be something military
I have another box that's metal with my grandfathers name on the side that I think is military ... I'll take a shot of it later!

Isn't it funny that Chris is all 16x9, Petes all about 1x1, and almost every single photo I take I make 10x8 ...
I wonder why?

Hard to say with only a little text to read, It may be post war as ww2 u.s and brittish supply boxes never had the tounge and groove type interlocking slats, to save on construction costs they where simply backed with brown wax paper to make them water proof. Also the locks would suggest the box was for personnel use. Metal was rationed for production of weaponary and ordinance. Supply crates where nailed down and crowbared open when needed. As the catch suggests the box was pad locked I would say it's a converted barrack box to keep personal belongings in, also the one with your grandpas name on suggests a barrack box/foot locker. Any other readable text Hamish? I am geek

Paul - first thing I thought of was the old military jets at the local museum at Miramar - if I can make the time, I'm going to go look :)

Hamish - I take panoramic photos for panoramic people! ;)

LMAO that would describe me to a tee! 'Panoramic'
