Not sure if I got this one right, the sky turned so flat and uninteresting. I should also confess I moved the bird over a tad to suit the crop not something I would normally do.

I like the composition Vic, but you're right, it's a bit flat. What about a manual curves adjustment to push contrast into the mid tones?

There's really nothing in the sky, it's just dull and flat. If I had been one hour earlier it would have been a much better shot. I might try a colourful version that might work.

I actually like the flat sky, as well. It reinforces the desolate mood that the photo seems to be trying to convey. Although a dark, cloudy sky with lots of different forms may also have a nice effect.
