Thanks Ahmad. I will read this properly later; I've just have a quickish read of some of it. I like some of his work and it is interesting to read about his approach. I have his B+W portfolio and there are some wonderful series in there.

Welcome Pete. Davie, Bruce Davidson in the article became a part of the community he was photographing,
thus he nor they were strangers. This i feel comfortable with.
Also he mentions about photographs of strangers is perhaps as stealing a portion of a persons spirit,
it is like a Native American Indian understanding.
At the same time i think humorous street, an interesting observation, reportage, social commentary doesn't require a person to become part of the community nor is it stealing a portion of a persons spirit.
I think much depends on the photographers personality, the moment, the scene.
