Here's a few unseen photos from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's December 1984 tour stop in Memphis Tennessee. I was the only photographer at the show and shot the usual 'first three songs'. I never shot more film faster at a show. Bruce was maniacal and all over the stage and film just seemed to be sucked through my cameras. 36 frames of Tri-X would be gone so fast. I was rewinding and reloading while simultaneously trying to shoot with another camera body. I was probably shooting with a Nikon FM2 and a F3 and a Nikon 24mm and 180 2.8 and rated at 400.
I scanned my favorite shots from the show almost 20 years ago.I've posted them often in the past. I won't repost those here today.
Yesterday I realized how long ago it was since I last edited the shoot and thought I'd go back and see if I missed anything. I still think my original edit captured the best frames but I did find a few more I liked. So here they are, a few unpublished images. With the exception of a few publications access like I had 39 years ago doesn't really exist any more, not with those high-dollar front row seats. Today any/all photographers would likely be stationed halfway back on the floor by the soundboard or handicapped seating area unless they're from Rolling Stone or some other big publication.
Now I kind of feel inspired to go back and re-edit more old concerts from the 70's and 80's.
