Chris Dodkin West Coast Correspondent Apr 19, 2011 #2 I have the MKII - works great on primes, not tried it on zooms though.

M Mark Grant Canon user Apr 20, 2011 #5 I have the 1.4x II ( older model) on a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS and it is excellent. To me the 2x II ( old model) was softer than the 1.4X II , but now the III are out I think you should try one. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-Extender-EF-2x-III-Review.aspx http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-Extender-EF-1.4x-III-Review.aspx The extra reach of 2x is useful. If you do buy one let us all know as that's my next purchase A bit spendy but a lot less than a 400mm lens, and on my 1.6 crop canon 60D that is 640mm http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-2XEF-II-2x-Extender/dp/B0000C4G55/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-14XEF...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1303294025&sr=1-1

Chris Dodkin West Coast Correspondent Apr 20, 2011 #6 Here's the MKII 2x on my 300 f2.8L And here's the 2x on the 600 f4L Contrast loss was an issue on the 600, but could be corrected in PP. My understanding from Canon was that the extenders were designed for the prime telephotos specifically, hence the good IQ.

Pete Askew Admin Apr 20, 2011 #7 Well, they look pretty good to me Chris! As you say, contrast often suffers a bit but can usually be boosted in PP these days.
