Additional chatter suggest that the 5D III will have built-in wireless flash control (at last!) so you'll be able to use a new range of Canon EX flash units in full wireless mode.

This would make sense for 5 series users, such as wedding photogs - off camera flash would be way easier to set-up/control.

That and the low light performance with best-in-class AF would be a wedding photos dream camera.

Oh no! Will this mean my 5D MKII will stop working and I'll just have to go buy the new model?

no no no no no no no no no no no Hamish & Allan.... your both Nikonians, Ralphs 5Dmk11 would much more be suited to MY needs as i already have the glass to go with it being a fellow canonian

Ralph - it's a well documented fact that 'the previous model' of a camera is no longer able to take sharp, well exposed shots of anything - in fact the image quality degrades to the point of the camera becoming a paper weight :D

Ah, but next quarter starts in 30 days Pete ;)

It's a whole lot of money Ralph - and the improvements they've made would probably have minimal impact on the image quality for much of the stuff I shoot - probably the same for yourself.

Even when I had 45 AF points on my 1D series, I only ever used a single AF point, because that way I was sure the subject was in focus the way I intended!

Wireless flash - meh - very cool, but I rarely use flash these days - all available light stuff with fast glass

High ISO would be great - but not sure it's $3,500 of great at this point.

Better build quality and sealing - welcome, and probably good for you on your travels.

Like you, I'm hoping that the 'inevitable image degradation' on my 'old' 5D II doesn't make it a useless piece of junk in the near future ;)

For people buying into this level of Canon DSLR for the first time, it's one hell of a camera! :)

Agree Chris, I could use a camera with better weather sealing. I usually put mine away when the rain starts or the snow is wet. More dynamic range and better low light performance, now that would also be my cup of tea. Just think what the MKIV will be like?
