Canon EOS 1100D

Our daughter did amazingly well in her 4th-year school exams (straight A's!), and we decided to get her a camera for her A-level Art exam next year, which will require a decent DSLR from the get go. So we surprised her with a trip to Jessops to get hands on with a few cameras. She really connected with the Canon EOS 1100D, which we got a fantastic deal on with an 18-55mm DC Lens, and a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 lens, plus bag and memory for £450.

I decided not to get nerdy about spec for various cameras, and just go with what Rhona felt she could fall in love with. She is incredibly excited about it!

I'll try to persuade her to join us here, but she thinks we are WAY too uncool :p

Sadly, I suspect she is right!! :)

Exciting times though and certainly the right approach for a first camera. If she was not comfortable with it she just wouldn't use it. You'll definitely have to set up 3 accounts on the new iMac now though (check out fast user switching!).
