Castle Geyser Rainbow

One last shot from Yellowstone. This is Castle Geyser. It erupts on an irregular schedule about twice a day. But the previous eruption was only a minor one and there was no way to predict when it might erupt again. My group just happened to be nearby enjoying our lunch in the snow when the geyser took off. It blasts out boiling water for about 20 minutes then does a fantastic steam eruption for another 40 minutes. The steam part of the eruption sounds like a jet engine. Very fun. We were also fortunate that the sun was out creating the nice rainbow. The rock cone of the geyser is about 15-20 feet high. I hope the white balance is close enough to correct so I don't have to go back to jail again.

Wow - what a sight Ralph

WB looks clean to me - loving the pop of color with the rainbow

Excellent, Ralph. What good fortune to be there at the right time on such a magnificent day (and also to have the WB right;)). The stars aligned!
