I quite like the very subtle ones like this one

Just wondering what peoples thoughts on them are??

I think most of them look great. I have seen one or two that look a bit dodgy and the movement is a bit jerky (just look at the finished product in the tutorial example) but when they are done well like some of these they are great:D.

Ooooo, creepy

For some reason I'm reminded of that scene in Bladerunner, where Deckard can pan around a scanned still photo and find stuff hidden in the mirror and around the corner.

its definitely one of those hit or miss things ... and im sure that subtlety is key!

I'm going to have a go at this over the next few day!!
Going to wonder round town with the c3 tomorrow I think... Might take the d50 too

Blimey, your gonna need a few rolls of film to do a Cinemagraph with the C3!! :)

Having said that, there's a pair in the alternative processing arena that made a reasonably long stop-animation film with live actors using a Lomo!! I'll try to find the link, it's pretty impressive (and much better than the Lomography ones you see around).

... Yeah... I think I'll stick to the d50 for this!
I feel all precious about every idea of photo for the C3... Don't want to waist a single shot!

I think this is an interesting way to capture in a photograph a brief moment without diluting the aspect of focus that is a strength of photography in the way that a typical video does. These remain a single image even though they have some movement in them.

Indeed, the movement strikes me as drawing attention to a bit of the image to the same end as composition is used in a truly still picture... lets not forget that the viewers attention is in constant motion... and it is interesting to see the results of an eyetracker on still images.

Id love to see the results of an eye tracker on my photos ... ...
Now that would be a forum plug in!!

Im surprised at how much i like these things you know ...
On paper, it sounds like a bad idea, but sometimes it really seems to work!
Im yet to try one, but i have somewhat of an interesting assignment tomorrow, that if i think about it i will have a go at it i think...
