Clifton Camera : Sigma Merrill's £339

I've kept an eye on this and Park cameras have them for 369. Apparently Sigma are about to bring something new to the table this month at the Camera and Photo Imaging show 13-16th . Not sure what it is but it may well be the reason for this price drop.
So for the time being I'll see what Sigma have to offer at the CP+ show. The CEO said recently that they have something revolutionary to show (which was not a new camera) But who knows.Nevertheless the Merrils are worth every penny of £339.

Searched on US websites today but nothing comes close to the Clifton price. Best I saw was about $570 US dollars through an Amazon 2nd seller--gray market cameras out of Japan it seems.

Someone should set up (if there isn't one already) a cross continental purchase and post service with say just 5% premium.

I think that was established a while ago. Or at least Sigma said that no Mirrorless /M4/3 camera was due and unlikely in the foreseeable future . But then it could be a smoke and Mirrors camera :D

Our work photography club meets today and we have a guest speaker. He is a wildlife photographer and he is affiliated with Sigma. I shall enquire about the Merrill price drop in UK.

SD10 + Sigma 18-50 £130 : 1 year warranty

I had a look at it in Webuy CeX (Entertainment Exchange) Ilford : really rarther decent condiiton given over a decade old.
I was tempted. Imporvements over SD9 were :
SD10 has ISO800 & 1600 (id say for b&w really);
One battery in SD10, SD9 needed two different types.

SD9, SD10 sesnor made any lens sing including the Sigma 18-50 which i had.
I used M42 lenses with £4 adapter. One neat thing of SD9 (& I presume SD10), focusing with manual focus M42 lenses,
when focus locked there was a little bleep and green dot light in OVF.

Its quite tempting, I think I could get along with a DP2 (and a spare battery or 2).

Paul I got four generic batteries from e-bay. They actually last as long as the sigma ones, yet I've never needed more than one extra as two are supplied in the box. I get 100-130 raw shots per battery in normal weather.
In the cold it is about 25/30% less.

A bargain Ahmad. But what I like about the DP's are the size and weight. So easy to carry a couple around in a tiny bag.

Not sure if anyone has seen this. How true I don't know, yet for a while these rumor sites seem to be very accurate and the camera companies do use them to leak camera gear prior to the big shows. It appears that their has been progress in the Foveon technology , a larger Raw file of 19.6MB 14 bit and a JPEG engine producing 31mp JPEG's . Time will tell how good this is in reality, but one thing for sure Sigma seem to price there new gear very high before almost giving it away a year or eighteen months later.
