Clifton Camera : Sigma Merrill's £339

I like the minimalist look of these cameras, and if the quality is as good as or better than the Merrills, they should be astonishing.

As for batteries and memory cards, when using the Merills, why not pretend you have a 36-exposure film inside? It really focuses the mind, so to speak.

Not sure if anyone has seen this. How true I don't know, yet for a while these rumor sites seem to be very accurate and the camera companies do use them to leak camera gear prior to the big shows. It appears that their has been progress in the Foveon technology , a larger Raw file of 19.6MB 14 bit and a JPEG engine producing 31mp JPEG's . Time will tell how good this is in reality, but one thing for sure Sigma seem to price there new gear very high before almost giving it away a year or eighteen months later.

Thanks Julian. They look interesting.

they do look interesting. At least the new sensor tech does. The above is actually a Sigma announcement and not a rumor as i had thought. Time will, I am not to fussy what a camera looks like as long as it produces good images.
Am looking forward to see the quality of the output.

Rob I do very much feel as if I am using film as far as speed goes. They are camera that does slow things down. I actually find it my preferred camera by far because of that.

A bargain Ahmad. But what I like about the DP's are the size and weight.
So easy to carry a couple around in a tiny bag.

They do a 20% deposit & 6 fortnightly payments (£18), thus it was tempting for me.
And I wouldn't need to get an i5, i7 with lots of memeory, a £40 laptop would do.

Photos from SD10 (which i have seen on line) looks the same as SD9
+ SD10 doesnt have the hassle of two different types of battery & has iso1600 (i would only use for b&w)
Later versions of Foveon (SD14, 15, 1, DP series, DPM series) didn't have the grungy look i really like of the SD9, SD10.

Thing about the SD9 could stick a £20 lens on it and it made the lens it look as a Leica.

Modular ? was my first reaction.
I thought grip housing the battery would come away from body, interchanged by any of the 3 Quattros (lil bit like Ricoh GXR).
BRAUN, Dieter Rams (& Audi :D)

I think Quattro sensor & prcessing engine is for faster writing, faster af, high colour iso. and minimal colour shift at high iso.
(And in resolution terms about 40MP).
It could pave the way for a Mirrorless FF Foveon.

Dp2Q Lens could have been F2.
Glad they put the Sigma logo rear, up front it was a bit like advertising a Skoda.

(No DP2m image on the site)

For a comparatively little company, lone gunslinger ...
