Instax 210 and Auld Nik Silver

Thanks Pete. Hard to tell, but there is one guy walking up the steps, with a white shoulder bag. I was hoping he would bring some detail to that area, which was largely in shadow. It has worked a little, but not enough. Still, I'm learning the limits of the camera/print combo.

Using your instax to shoot Cockburn eh! Sounds like a good idea ;)

I'm liking the effect of the instax and Nik SilverFX Rob - very tasty

Cheers, Brian. And cheers, Chris. I was feeling a little down about my photography of late, but this camera has brought the fun back.

The stairs are dark yet I like the way it contrasts against the building above. If anything I'd lighten the foreground and leave the stairs as they are.
Like the format, as a whole, the outer scan lines that are dark. it works as an object in itself rather than a straight visual photograph.

Thanks, Julian. Love your new 'thoughtful' avatar pose :)

I agree that the object as a whole (including the borders) somehow creates its own values. Enjoyable.

I've already dodged the lines, Paul. This is the best I could do without it looking like I've been doing that. It's ok, though.

Best not dodge anymore then, Rob. That's the problem with the internet, it's full of terrible advice!

The more I looked at the photo the more details I saw on the stairs. Before I knew it I had been looking for quite a while and I do tend to prefer photos that hold my interest.

I like it....I would just crop a bit off the bottom where you cannot see that much anyway. But I wouldn't touch anything else - I like the overall look.

Ah, you can't cut a bit off the bottom without cutting off the surround. I don't usually go in for adding big frames to digital shots, but with instant film it's part of the whole. I suppose one could manage it somehow, but I can't be bothered.
This is part of the attraction of instant prints - trying to get it right before clicking, and some of it will not be exposed as well as other parts. But, overall, it should have some kind of unifying vibe...

Hi Rob - in that case, leave it as it is. For me, I like the whole appearance...it has a bit of mystery and coldness, and is a really nice break from the norm.
