Bewildered as you are, no wonder the confusion. A viking is a true blooded Norseman as of later years. A Norman is among others the ones who invaded England, from Normandy, Breton and France and fought the AngloSaxons, in other words not a Norseman. Actually far from it. So the child here is more a Norman and a Norwegian of birth. A Scotsman on the other hand, may have ancestors from anywhere. Could be a Norman.

I am so glad that you are not a historian although you pop up with a lot of stories. I am glad you delve into and engulf yourself in the history of the Vikings, Normans and Anglosaxons. Are you sure that you have found the right books?
