It's not that often that a major news story sails (or gets towed) into town...
This week, San Diego was the final port of call for the disastrous Carnival Splendor cruise - with the crippled liner being towed into the bay after a fire out at sea had killed her engines and electrical power.
I figured that one of the largest cruise liners in the world, (113,300 gross register tons (GRT)), would make for some interesting photos, so I popped down to the quayside this morning with the camera
There were still ENG camera crews milling about, interviewing passengers about to board the sister ship for their cruise, but otherwise, the now stationary vessel was kept behind locked gates under tight security.
Any way - there she blows, as they say...
And yes, it is bloody massive!
