Don't eat Ant Killer

Dan Down - The Steampunk Womble
This poor fella did, and now it's lights out!!
I'm not a murderer....... Promise!!! (as I wear a mask regularly) :D

Inspired by the Macro pros on here I thought I'd give it a go myself..
No wear near as sharp and crisp as I hoped but I'm quite happy with the result.

I'll post some pics of the layout when I get round to it. I couldn't see myself doing this on anything moving, so fair play to those who do!

I think a frame is needed......... on the case :)

Thanks for looking :)

Pretty damn good me thinks DD, I too have great respect for those that can do this..and do it well.....:)

It certainly made me realise how difficult it is!
Focusing with such an incredibly narrow DOF no way can the creature be active for a photo shoot with me.... Had to set a few ground rules with the little nibbler first. :D:D

I did this with my 70-300mm @100mm HOLDING my nifty fifty reversed on the from of the tele...... It nearly went out the fekin window I was getting fed up it so much. lol

I got bellows but need to set up lighting so been a bit slack but will play soon, when I can find some deed critterz..:D

Looking forward to it Kev. I'm sure they'll be out sooner than later if you leave the a nice tooth rotting chunk of candy in the back garden...... then WWHHHHACKK!!! Critter shoot shall commence! :D:D

ive not tried much with insects n the likes i tend go with flowers they dont move so much unless its windy :D

Hairspray 'll stop the buggers moving ............. or at least it will slow them down some  ......... or maybe valium on a sugar cube .......chill them out a bit.

Pete

Looks like the wee (sleekit cowerin' timorous) beastie has curled up the fetal position. I like the OOF aroon his perimeter, Dan.

Very cool Dan - he has a metallic look with I really like, along with the high-key backdrop

Thank you folks. Never done macro like this before..... Oooh before I forget.... I'll post the set up.

Okay, this is no Askew studio ltd :p but it did the trick.

And here is another take of the same angle but with the tele zoom at 300 (600mm equiv) with reversed 50mm.

....and what part does the little green bag in the second shot play Dan???

Hey Heath Robinson and I love every bit of it this is what we do and you did it good :)

Thanks Dan. Well it certainly works well. I guess the torch acts as the modeling light does it? Is that another light on the other end of the tripod arm?

Well observed Pete (as usual). Lol
It certainly is. I had to use my 2 100 lumen torches to get visual of the critter through the live view screen.
