Up until a few years ago, I rescued reptiles, mostly snakes. I still have a couple snakes & a couple of lizards left, that I either didn't want to re-home or didn't think it was best too. Here's a few shots of Mildred the Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps)

Amazing creatures, with all that body armor and defensive spikes. I imagine she moves a bit sluggish-like in the English climate, Alfie.

Love the close up head shots #4 and #5 - all that lovely detail in the skin

Lovely DOF and a sharp eye in #5 really make it the best of the bunch for me

great shots #5 my fav nice catch light in the eye and great detail

What I find odd about bearded dragons is that they look like you could cut your self on them but the spikes are actually soft ... Hannahs parents have one ... Odd thing, oddly cute! You wouldn't think it was possible to remain so still for so long!
So does your house sound like escaped crickets too??

Lesley,

I've never had an iguana, even though I was offered a couple, as I didn't have the space they require. I did house sit for a friend though a couple of times who owned a beautiful green one. He too had a room all to his self, but basically roam the whole house at times. He had an habit of getting behind you on the back of the sofa & chewing your hair. Lovely creature though.

Hamish,

Yes, beardies are a bit odd, all those spikes are just for show, that said they can look quite intimidating when they blow up there beard & it goes all black!

They seem to move less & less as they get older, but also they do require the viv very very hot at one end with a nice basking spot. If the vivs not warm enough they will be even more still. In their natural habitat they do though bask in the hot sun for hours with their belly rested on hot rocks. They need to do this to aid their digestive systems. Heat is the key to keeping beardies.

As to crickets, you can buy three different kinds, black, brown & silent. They're not really silent but much quieter. The secret is not to let them escape though.

OMFG i would run a mile from this if i saw it for real haha.

Great set though, really love last one up close & personal, great detail on its face
