Dusty Lens, Or Worse?

This one came out rather strangely, but it might indicate a problem with the lens of the Fuji XS1?

No, Dan. Just straight into the sun. I was on a hill...beautiful sunny day.

It certainly looks like dust or marks on the coating.

But the marks don't seem to appear in the other photos...

I suspect it is because the sun has acted as a point light source. Try taking a shot indoors pointed at a small light light.

It looks like the lens wasn't in the right position to shoot? It shouldn't be able to focus on the stuff on the front of the lens ...??

To be honest, Hamish, I can't remember taking the shot - it seems an odd one to do on purpose.

Maybe it fired somehow with the lens retracted? (The lens des retract right?)
That would probably cause something like this ... Maybe it got a random case of the gremlins and shot a photo whilst it was hung off your shoulder??

It's a bridge camera - fixed zoom. I don't know if that means it retracts or not.

You probably need a smaller bulb you simulate the effect of the sun. A 12V halogen capsule bulb would do it but it looks like it was an odd combination of factors anyway.
