Edinburgh calling

Well...here's how the day went.

I put in cheap colour film, just to see if the camera works. Seemed to go OK until I wound the film forward after about the tenth shot, not realising my left-hand thumb was pressed against the film winder on the left hand side. I heard the film rip a little. Oh bu~~er. But...it seemed OK after I took up the slack. Hope that makes sense. So, I kept shooting.

Went to Boots for the 1 hour development, only to be told their equipment had broken. Went to Jessops and they took it. I had an hour to wait, so put in another film and went to the graveyard for some shots. Did the whole film, and returned to Jessops. To cut short what is probably a boring post (!) both films actually turned out OK!

Hey, my first film shots!

I went back to the counter and asked them to put the shots on disc. The bored teenager said, 'If you had paid for them when buying the prints, it would have cost you £2. Now it will cost you £10 per film'. !!! So, I don't have them on disc. I do have a scanner, but not a specialist photo one. I'll give it a try later.

I'm happy with some of them - out of 50 shots, maybe five are what I would consider good for me. That's not bad. I could do with better film, but the main thing today was just checking everything works.

The ABSOLUTELY BEST THING about today, was just looking at scenes I had walked by every day suddenly has Zen-like interest. Enjoyed myself!

Not boring in the least. Not boring in the least. ;)

I find the film scanner I bought a while back to be the best thing since sliced bread, Rob. Especially when you start to develop your own film. Glad to hear that the camera's working. I think your yield of 5 good 'uns ain't bad at all. If I get five I like out of a roll I consider that a success!

dont buy that!
It will probably be crap...
I cant even begin to imagine how many time i have given people this same advice

buy an epson flat bed with neg scanning ability!
you can get a v330 for about £80ish now ...
a s/h one would be cheaper ...
even a 300, 200 etc etc s/h would be better than what you posted in my experience of that sort of thing!

the 330 with a yeah manufactueres gtee is, imo, the way to go!
Epson Perfection V330 LED Photo Scanner (4800dpi): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Well, I have an HP Photosmart flatbed scanner and printer. Would that make sense of negatives? I could give it a try, but it's bed time...zzzzz

maybe ...
If it does you will have a special holder for the negs.
The white spongy bit under the lid will also clip off to reveal a strip light used to back illuminate the negs
