My first post, here, for a while (couldn't decide if I should post here or the equipment section - sorry @Pete Askew). Seeing Pete Roberts' excellent post about his recent EOS bargain got me thinking about another EOS, an eBay temptation from last summer. Sadly the Sigma lens has a fair bit of fungus inside the rear section (there were signs of growth on the pressure plate, too. I cleaned the body as well as I could but the lens I couldn't do anything with. I thought I'd run a film through it anyway. It seems the fungus has had little influence over the image luckily. Kentmere 400 dunked in caffenol.

It looks like the lens is OK despite the fungus. Just keep it away from other lenses.
Cheers, Gary. I did wipe all outer surfaces (as much as I could without risking anything) of camera and lens with a strong Dettol mix (apparently it's good at killing fungus, even the spores). I also placed each under my UVC lamp for some time from each angle, so to speak. Hopefully there's little left lingering, though I do tend to keep it separate. I do wonder, though, if some of it is just my paranoia, as there are fungal spores floating around in the air pretty much all the time to some degree. I think the secret is to avoid conditions where the spores can germinate or existing fungus can grow (remove food source and excess moisture). The only thing I can't remove is my aforementioned paranoia lol.
Interestingly, some time back my Sigma 24-105 Art that usually lives on my 6D started growing something furry around the edge of the front element (behind the UV filter). It wiped away fairly easily with some pure IPA, leaving no marks, and hasn't reappeared since luckily. No sign of anything anywhere else.
