Execution Site Of Irelands 1916 Easter Rising Leaders

I've been there, and I have to say it was not a nice experience, and this image conveys it well. Isn't it odd, though, that if you take away the crucifix and the story, it would just be an interesting shot of a wall and door. But the subject is so strong and emotive, I can't look at it without feeling some pain.

Like Tom & Rob, I have been to this site - chilling would be a good description

I felt very uncomfortable being a tourist

Like the B&W treatment Tom, and the balance of the doorway and cross - very nice comp

Thanks for your comments and observations everyone. Personally I find that door to be a bit haunting and menacing and I picture the leaders being marched out from there and in James Connolly's case carried out on a stretcher, tied to a chair and shot.. Actually James was born in Edinburgh.
