Far Mountains

Rudi's photo of "False Bay Sunset" reminded me of these photographs that I made last August. Two friends and I climbed to the summit of Ear Mountain, a local landmark. We timed our arrival on the summit to be just before sunset. I captured these photos, like Rudi did in his, a few minutes after the sun went below the horizon. I like how the mountains appear as layers and almost show some transparency.

After photographing the sunset we spent the night on the summit. Here's a shot of me my friend got the next morning just after sunrise. There are more photos from this adventure on my ChoteauCam.

Wow, stunning Ralph!

I love the layers and the way the colors fade into each other. The transparency of the background layers give these images a special mystical feeling that I really like.

Well done and thanks for sharing!!

The colours and layers in #2 are particularly cool - love it!

The farthest peaks like the very pointed ones on the right and left ends of photo 2 are 70-80 miles away.

Ralph,

Great stuff, I particularly like the 2nd capture, the orange above the purple/blue shadows really makes this a striking image!

Thanks all. The orange sky was helped by some smoke from distant forest fires.

I've been thinking of making a very wide print of that second image.
