First Nikon

I just ordered a Nikon F4S.
Congrats Paul! I was looking at F2's a while back but after watching a YT by Cody Mitchell, I looked up FE's and seems like for the price... Now I'm thinking that I need to dip my toe into developing color negatives.

The FE is one of my favourite Nikons, but maybe I am biased as it was the first I bought, secondhand back in the early 80s. I still have it (and a second) and it has taken a lot of use and abuse overthe years and never missed a beat. It also has my favourite metering system of all of of any camera: matched needles. Brilliant.

I bought mine with a 105mm Nikkor and that remained (and maybe even still remains) my favourite lens, or at least focal length on a SLR.

I really liked the matched needle system in my Canon FTb so I'll be curious to see how I like this system. The needles seem to be on the left whereas the Canon has them on the right.

Also of note: it uses a battery that is readily available.

Good to hear that you liked yours enough to get a second!

There were several available with the 50/1.4 but I'm swimming in 50's and other various "normal" fl lenses so I opted for the 36-72/3.5. Here is a very informative article about that lens: https://imaging.nikon.com/imaging/information/story/0091/

What are you shooting now Gary?

After developing and scanning my own b&w, I'm thinking that I'll go ahead and try my hand at developing 35mm color negatives too.

Stay tuned...
Fuji digital. (I still have a full B/W darkroom all boxed up in the garage. A new 100' roll of Tri-X in a bulk loader on a desk. ... But digital is sooo much easier.)
