Critique Welcomed Fly Fisher On Pass Lake

So far, so good! I'm trying to figure out how to open it for critique. There I got it!flyfisherLake.jpg

Thank you, Julian. This is one of my favorite lakes for rainbow trout, and I had never seen it with the water quite like this. There was just enough breeze to get that ripple. I was testing my new Fuji XC 59-230mm lens. It is one of their lower priced lenses, but I was please with the resolution.

Jerry, when I bought my Fuji XE1 I got the XC 50-230 free from them. It is a good lens and perfect for what I expect from my photography. I have had one outing with it and was very happy with the results.
That image of yours is a lovely one. The pastel colours of the water and all the ripple and reflections contrasts beautifully with the bolder colours of the main subject.
I assume the lens was near full stretch for this? If so I think this is a super result from a budget lens.

I really like this, Jerry. Gives a good sense of the concentration needed for good fly fishing, and stillness - not unlike the art of photography...

I am not at all disappointed with this lens. It's not the build quality of the XF lenses, but I did not need the faster tele zoom. Most of the time I will use the 18-55mm. The IQ is very good and it is flexible. I am very happy with the 23mm and the 35mm. I have the 27mm, but don't use it.

I drove past the lake at about 55 mph, and caught the color in the ripples. I turned around and found a place to park. Held the lens on the edge of the window cranked it to a full 230mm and got about seven shots. They were all about the same.

Thanks for your comments.

Rob, you have got that right. The two have a lot in common. That's likely why I enjoy both. I am glad that you like it; so do I. It is not an example of master craftsmanship. It was simply there ans I captured it without much work in composing it. It was a typical Seattle kind of day with clouds and a light drizzle, very much like your weather in Edinburgh. I'll post another that I worked one. I would value your opinion.

I love the way the trees on the far back are stretched in their reflection on the water - it's like a surrealist painting

Thanks, Chris. I too though it had hints of Monet as I drove by. I was lucky to be there at just the right time.
