Foxes are clever enough to get into fenced off places but too stupid to know that they don't have to kill chickens if they don't really want to eat them!

Hamish, I'm so very sorry. It must have been a horrible shock and I know you'd had the girls a while. I can only offer help if you want to start again and I would advise that you don't let this put you off. You know they would have gone for slaughter some 18 months (?) ago and they had a good life. We haven't had fox problems because of where we live. Being in the middle of nowhere we literally had to build the runs like Fort Knox, but we did have two girls kill each other in the house one night. Derek found them on New Year's Day. I normally let them out early, but he wanted to give me an extra hour in bed.
We started out with a similar height fence, but kept adding over the years and we now have two 30' runs that are completely enclosed. Let me know if you want to talk about security...
