The close up of the sign is with the DP3. I had a hard time getting the right angle on it so I just held the camera above my head and hoped for the best. I don't that I got that. I guess a 200mm lens is helpful sometimes....:)

It's like a different world the US is to me ... It doesnt matter how much i see signs like that and see stuff on tv, it still doesn't make sense that it's a reality in a western 1st world society

Cool photos though! :)

I think this genre works better in colour, Steve. Good shots, well taken.

I genuinely think most Americans are aliens from a different, very bizarre planet. Not you, of course, Steve ;)

Thanks Hamish!!

You know I grew up in Texas and left for about 21 years to live on the East Coast (first Miami, then Boston). It has really changed. The guns thing is out of control in large parts of the US. The recently elected governor of Texas (and only 24% of the eligible voters voted...) is promising to pass an Open Carry law here. We have advocates for this in Texas who seriously believe being able to carry an assault rifle into a restaurant or Target store is a good idea. It's just crazy. I don't give it much odds of passing because it also means you could carry your AK 47 in Neiman Marcus in Highland Park (the sort of Park Ave of Texas). But the fact that he is seriously entertaining the idea tells you how far down the rabbit hole this guns thing gone. I grew up in hunting family and fundamentally don't have a problem with hunting or hunting rifles/shotguns. I also have no issue with target shooting, skeet shooting ect. I don't hunt but hunting itself is not the problem. Believe it or not, where I walk my dogs, sometimes people come out there with full auto assault rifles. They have been modified to be full auto since it is illegal, but I assure you the police will do nothing about it. It's absolutely surreal.

Apologies for the long winded diatribe. I am a tad on the liberal side (or the Dark Side as it's known here in Texas :) )

Thanks Rob. Agreed on the color. Suffice to say Texas is not very European....:(
