Fuji Xe2 In Jessops

That's nice to hear. So the whole world has not gone mad. Good to know. Quite peaceful here now.

I do like the 60mm prime. The advantage over the 55mm end of my zoom is that it (the 60mm) can keep at 2.4 throughout. The tele zoom seemed very useful too. Still unsure which to go for. I, of course, want both...

Glasgow is like marmite, you either love it or hate it and I must say that having grown up as an Army brat with my Dad in the Highland Light Infantry, I hated the place!

But that was in the days of tenement blocks, trams, razor gangs and a definite air of menace. Plus, with coal fires and fog you could eat, it was minging!

I went back a few years ago and thought it was lovely.

As for Edinburgh, I lived in Redford Barracks, went to St Cuthberts RC School and loved it. I went back a few years ago when one of my Dads Army chums ran Jenners Restaurant and fell in love with the place again....and Jenners as was.

Pat, I'll be the first to admit that there are parts of Glasgow that are lovely...I just can't remember where they are. Plus, it rains a lot. I lived there for four years as a student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, and it must have rained about 70 per cent of the time.

The joke is, of course, that my wife has a full time job at Glasgow University, and we are possibly moving through there in a year's time...

The 60mm has quite a range of focus, capable of getting down to a 1:2 ratio. If the image is a complete blur, the lens may have to sweep through most of its range to find focus, but when it does, it locks on. When using it for closeup, I generally go with manual. Frame the subject, press the AFL button, it focuses. Then move the camera to keep focus on the part of the subject that is most important. The last firmware update made using manual focus much easier and more precise.

Last time I checked, it was the lens I use most. 18mm - 26%; 35mm - 34% and 60mm - 40%. As well as closeup, I use it a lot for general photography.

i'm with ya on the never gelling with Glasgow.... never liked it. Edinburgh has so much more a small town feel

I genuinely prefer the Tayside area.

i kind of know what you mean, but I would say that cos I live here so it's home, i also like Edinburgh cos I've spent a lot of time there ... I'm a big lad( to say the least) and I've never felt safe in Glasgow

Hoy,...you two Taysiders...the friendliness, charm, intelligence and gentility of Glasgow folk is well-known, so kindly cease and desist. (Or else...!) By the way, we are also good-looking! (One need only look as far as Neanderthal Man for evidence. :))
