About the lighting. I had problems with this because as you see, the background is far lighter on the left side. I think one light on the left and a tightly gridded spot lighting the camera. also the composition is a bit odd, with that gap on the left…..I was shooting with an imagined front cover and strap lines in my head, but I just dunno

I wouldn't worry about the negative space Peter, the slight curve of the subject from bottom left back to top right makes that space work.

The lighting definitely draws your eye to the camera - very effective

I've done a few of these brand shots before, and typically used the same tight spotlight to highlight the product. Just wondering if that dog has had its day.

I always liked the 'obscure visual reference' style of Hipgnosis or Newton
