Critique Welcomed Graveyard Ruin

Wow - gorgeous location - very cool

This is the thing with HDR though Mike, it's mega detail creates all this extra interest ...
like marmite I think
I agree, there is almost to much to take in, the eye struggles to rest anywhere ...
for this sort of composition (which I do like) I think a lighter touch is required to make the shot fulfil it's potential!
still, that's just me, and I know a lot of people really like this sort of thing!!

That's probably it - everything has equal status having been subjected to HDR, I think i'm looking for some artifice that directs my eye.

What are your thoughts Jared?
I hope you aren't offended?

Gee I hope not too. All comments are meant to be constructive but my use of English can be poor.

Mike

Im not offended i just like to watch the comments unless i need to comment back as for what other people on other forums think most do like it unlike my last photo had more dislikes so i redid it

I quite like this effect where you can push monochrome tones using HDR and tonemapping. I think Hamish is absolutely correct in that the image is a bit busy, but it is a busy scene and that is what Jared is trying to portray. I wonder if somehow a focal point could be created, maybe by slightly darkening the area around the image and then lighten the drums themselves as they seem to be a focus of interest. This may well draw the eye into the image more . Not to sure maybe it would work, would be interested in what guys think.

I would love to get out and take images of dereliction I think it is so interesting, but living in the UK it gets difficult with all the Health and Safety issues.

So many imaginary thoughts come to mind with this image the people, the history behind the scene and the stories this chapel could tell. Thanks for sharing
