Harsh Light

glad I clicked on this one. Very clever Tom . Like the subtle tones where for me the straight lines and geometric shapes hold it together. Like this a lot.

What a brilliant composition Tom! The two intersecting right angles hold it together so well and dividing the frame in that way is superb. I like also that larger area of dark balanced the almost featureless white and that the eye moves naturally up the centre and across to the detail in the garage / workshop (? - I assume that is an inspection pit). I also like the lighter rectangle at the top of the frame (another door?). All-in-all, brilliant. :)

I enjoy these type of shots Tom...not for the content...but for the artist value. The composition in this case is what grabs my eye.

Thanks everybody for your interesting comments on this one.
In the viewfinder it was the lines/shadows that appealed to me but when I got it home and looked at the bigger picture, so to speak, I found it a bit menacing especially with that trapdoor at the top. I sort of imagined myself coming to the end of a search but with a sinister outcome. Sometimes burnt out highlights can destroy a picture, (they have on a lot of mine anyway) other times, if your lucky, they can be an absolute asset. In this case the extreme highlight added a graphical element that fitted in with everything else, I think.
