Hello!

I was introduced to your forum by Rob MacKillop. I am fairly new to the digital communities.

I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Greater Los Angeles Area since 1988. Film photography and guitar playing are my two passions.

I exclusively work with film cameras and lenses. In large format, I use a wood field camera with Schneider and Rodenstock lenses. In medium format, I utilize Mamiya 7 rangefinder camera and lenses. For tripod, I prefer wood ones made by Berlebach. For film, I use mostly Ilford products. Specifically, PanF+ 50, FB4+ 125, HP5+ 400 are great films. For infrared, I use the only real IR film, Efke IR820. I develop the film with Ilford DD-X or Rodinal. In the past I used TMAX100 film and D76 developer. In small format, I worked with the Olympus OM system and Kodak Retina IIc camera.

In my darkroom, I work with a large/medium/small format Saunders LPL VCCE diffusion type and a medium/small format Saunders LPL condenser type B&W enlargers and Schneider enlarging lenses. I print with fiberbase papers, Ilford MGIV and Oriental Seagull brands. I exclusively use Moersch ECO 4812 developer.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Best wishes,

Nihat İyriboz

Hi Nihat. Welcome to RPF. There are a few of us in California. Me I'm one.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work. (I think I saw some already on your website, which, if I'm not mistaken, Rob pointed us to a couple of weeks ago.)

I hear that Efke have closed up shop. What will you do now for infrared? Freestyle still has some Efke IR advertized for sale but they are low on stock, so it can't be long now before its all gone. Do you have any options at all?

Anyway, welcome.

Thank you, Rob! The feeling is mutual. Thank you for introducing me to RPF.:)

Welcome Nihat - I'm looking forward to learning more about your photography, equipment and process.

I've found this forum is a great place to learn and share, and I hope you enjoy it.

Good to see another West Coaster as well :)

Hi Brian. Thank you for welcoming me. Yes, it is sad that Efke is out and Kodak is going to be. I purchased the last remaining batch of 4x5s and some 120s in November. They may have some 35mm film left. By 2014, I will try Rollei 400 infrared. I like the Getty at night! I wish they allowed tripod. Best:)

Thank you Chris! I too am looking forward to learn more here. San Diego is such a wonderful place to live as a photographer. With friends like you, I think I am going to enjoy this community. Good to meet you.:)

Hi Nihat! Welcome!
I shall look forward to seeing some images! I don't excusivly shoot film, but I do shoot it most for my hobby at the moment ... I'm currently residing at the opposite end of the film use spectrum to you mind - compact point and shoots and xp2, then getting them developed at a cheap place in town... Still, the results are what I'm after, so that's what counts I suppose :)

Big fan of ddx though, this time last year I discovered the joys of pushing hp5 with it with lovely results!

welcome again!

Welcome From the other coast. All this talk of film makes me question my complete switch to digital. I look forward to your posts.

Chris, I do not know how I miss your welcome message. Sorry for this delay. I think, being relatively new to cyberspace and forum, I am a bit lost. Thank you for your message. I hope to learn too.:o

Thank you, Paul. I am sorry for this delay, as I just noticed your message. I do know how I miss all these messages? I was deeply touched by Ella's Recovery. Hope that I can catch up with you guys.:o

Hello Pete,
Thank you for your welcome message! It is embarrassing to have just found out your message. I too am looking forward to chatting. Sorry for the delay..:o

Hello Hamish, and thank you for your kind message! I am sorry for this delay. I am just finding out your messages:o

This photography medicine has different remedies, I think. Whatever works is good for me.

HP5+ at 1600 with DD-X works great for me either 35 or 6x7. Haven't used with 4x5 yet.

Hope to catch up with a forum concept. This is my first. Thank you, again.

Glen, thank you! I am sorry to have missed all these kind welcoming message you guys sent me. I beginning to think, maybe preparing for my son's graduation recital and being new to forum format gave me this blackout.[doh]

Boston is a beautiful city. I did visit a couple of times. I still have a Kodak Retina IIc that my dad gave me when I was a teenager with a nice Schneider coated 50/2.8 lens. Hard to leave the camera I worked with so long. Again, sorry for this delay.

Thank you, Peri. Sorry for this delay. Somehow I've had a blackout. Learning to be on a forum I guess..:o

No worries, Nihat. Just glad you are here. Hamish is the creator of the site, so he should be able to give you advice - but others are knowledgeable about the running of the site as well. So, any questions, just ask.

Thanks, Rob. :)

How can I correct the title I created? HIstoric looks funny.
Initially I received e-mails, indicating activities, your comments. I now realize, I am not getting messages consistently, so I should be checking folders regularly. Correct? Thank you...

You need a Moderator to change the title. Hopefully one of them will see this. If not, send a message to Hamish.

I used to get messages when someone answered to a post I started, but not anymore. So, we have to keep looking back at the post, I'm afraid...

Maybe this can be fixed by Hamish as well?

Nihat

if you wish to receive email notifications regularly then go to settings (the cogs in the header), then go to "general settings" in the left column. Select your preference in the subscriptions bit under "messages and notifications".
Sometimes emails don't get through for one reason or another, so a good way to keep up with replys to what you have posted is to click your name at the top of the header and look at "activity"

as for your thread title ... Ill change it now :)

Thanks for pointing this out to me Rob!

Hamish, I have the Instant Thread Subscription vie email ticked for ever, but stopped getting emails a couple of months ago. I kept meaning to mention it, but never did. Sorry.
