Hello pretty thing..

...

So, is he having an idea then!! :)

It makes sees that that's why's they would have done it ...
These reviewers are too quick to assume fault despite it being well documented specification
Does it not make more sence that it would specced over a limit intentionally to give more usability?
I suppose the argument against it is why did they not just use a different shutter ... Or type of shutter ... ?

Quick question - RAW conversion from the X100 - which software?

So that would mean PS CS5 for Photoshop folks - Mmmmmmm....

It is now over six months and a lot of ones and zeros have gone through it. I like it every bit as good as I did on day one. With the D700 for heavy lifting and the X100 for carry everywhere, I am remarkably free of equipment lust. I have just gone through the work to date, and completely redone the web-gallery I posted many months ago.

Fujifilm X100 - Street, Candid, Personal - Carry-Everywhere Camera.

I greatly love its silence. For all intents, the camera is invisible as well. I chronicle the lives of a group of friends and a family I treasure. Never a "Smile, Hold IT!", but all simply capturing life as it is lived without the camera intruding. The gallery is mostly intimate people photography, but I added a smattering of travel-type stuff as well. Exposure data is included.

Enjoy!

This camera is bloody awesome, a thing of beauty also........... i so want one. I dont know if i could live with a camera with no zoom though.

I am hopefully getting the baby sister of this as a treat to myself for xmas. The fujifilm x10 :=_ i just hope i am not making a mistake by getting this model or it could end up costing me 2 cameras lol

The X10 is at least by specification the top of the heap when it comes to enthusiast compacts, like the LX5. G12, P7100 and so on.

The X100 is in a league of one. It truly defines the term "photographer's personal camera". One must zoom with one's feet and crop if all else fails. There are a couple of severe crops in the gallery, though most use most of the image area. Quality is so good, that it would take careful study to determine the few that are severely cropped. It simply shoots the shots you make it shoot. No training wheels whatever. The rewards are more than ample.

I do have a D700 as well, but only carry it when there is something specific to shoot that requires it versatility. The X100 is with me otherwise. It does replace the D700 for people, street and decisive-moment work, but both are vital and they compliment each other, rather than replace. I do also use the D700 for people shooting when the people are well accustomed to being in front of a camera.

Darren, see if you can borrow or buy a 24mm or 28mm prime
Stick it on your camera and go out for the day without any other gear and see how you get on ...
If you find it liberating, buy the x100 if you find it limiting, buy the x10!
