Hi from Reading

The names Richard, I'll answer to most things. I mainly shoot digital but have recently gotten back into film, I just need to get out and about.
My main interests after modifying one of my Eos 450d's is IR photography, and I'm starting to get some fairly reasonable results in post processing. I shoot with either of my 450d's and my first digital camera was a Nikon coolpix 990 my most recent addition is a Bronica ETRS along with a Mamiya C3. And like most people I have my pictures on flickr.

Welcome, Richard. When I launched your Flickr stream the phrase "tecno-luddite" momentarily appeared and then vanished. I couldn't find it again. But anyway, if you are a tecno-luddite then we should get along just fine, although I am actually more luddite than tecno. Anyway, welcome once again. I enjoyed glancing at your pics. (What's that big lens you have on one of your Nikon Cool-Pix 990s?)

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Crofton was at the opposite end of the technology spectrum for me, as my day job at the time I was working on harriers' at Bae Dunsfold. I must say that the transition to the new flickr site has taken some getting used to, but it's starting to grow on me and it's still free for the pro account even after I left BT in 2010.

That big piece of glass on the 990 was an option when I first got it, it was a choice between a tele or wide-angle lens which Nikon was offering at the time. And wouldn't you know it Reading USA, is on my bucket list of places to visit. In the mean time I shall have to make do with good old blighty, unless I come up on the euro lottery.

Tried a little IR myself with R72 filters - love the idea but feel I've yet to get the hang of it

Hi Chris

I'm still learning myself, I got bitten by the bug when I saw some of Richard Mosse's shots with 'Kodak Aerochrome' and I'm trying to achieve that 'aerochrome' look with a eos 450d/Xsi ir camera. If you have access to a 'Fuji x' series camera, you can get some amazing shots without modifying the camera, straight out of the box by just using ir filters.

Mark Hilliard has some great tutorials, and of course there is the 'Digital Infrared' group on Flickr which has some stunning shots, I think Antonio Campofreddo on flickr use's an x-pro for his ir work.
