You make a good point Rob. I hadn't noticed it too heavily before you mentioning it. I think with the scene being as bright as it is, it doesn't take away too much. I think it would be better had it not been there at all, no questions.
Yes, lighting was my biggest obstacle aside from having to shoot through the backstop netting. They had the flood/spot/halogens on full blast but it's never really enough I found out. 1600 just wouldn't cut it if I wanted to freeze the players. I tried to keep my shutter anywhere from 500-800 and that meant going to ISO 4000.
Noise reduction right now is only being done in LightRoom, but I am going to download a Topaz and Noise Ninja trial and have a go with them. I need something a bit more dialed in than just the LR sliders.

Guys, please if you see anything wrong with these technically don't be shy about bringing light to them. I really like shooting sports and want to be the best I can with what I have access to. I can accept that I do wrong, but I can also explain why I did what I did if I did it for a specific reason. I really enjoy shooting sports.
Hi Grant, I'm not a sports photographer by any sense but as you ask.........
If you do agree with Rob about the distracting light could you not use the brush tool in LR to burn it a little and possibly reduce the saturation a little.
Other than that I think you have captured the moment well and in difficult circumstances too.
